Political Factions in the US

America's political climate has shifted dramatically in the past few years, especially in  the past few months. We've seen the growth of alt-left groups and alt-right groups as they clash over everything from cops to second amendment rights to Russia to even statues. The thing that confuses people is all of those terms and groups out there. So what are these groups and factions and what do they really mean?

1. Alt-right:
  • white-rights activists, many of who support white supremacy and white nationalism.
  • claim they represent the conservative platform, but they really do not.
  • Richard Spencer, a white supremacist, coined the term
  • anti-immigration and pro-assimilation
2. Alt-left:
  • left-wing extremists who are  anti-conservatives all the time
  • many promote and incite violence in response to alt-right movements
  • radials themselves don't call themselves alt-left, but others refer to them as so
  • hold protests all the time and refuse to accept any compromise

3. Anfi-fa:
  • proclaimed anti-fascist group
  • engage in violence --- they beat up a white  supremacist group for no reason (not saying white supremacists are right, but just saying they were innocently eating lunch)
  • far-left people who are beyond the scope of the Democratic Party
  • believe that "elites are  controlling  the government and the media (Ayy fake news)and hate anyone who they remotely think is racist
4. Neo-Nazi:

  • most of them hate Jews, but now they also hate minorities and gays and trans people
  • believe that Jews control the governments
  • want a white America
5. White Nationalist:
  • generally less violent and have more toned-down rhetoric
  • still believe in a white America
  • not necessarily use racial slurs
6. White Supremacist:
  • extreme nationalists who want more than just a white America
  • believe that white people are superior to other races and should control the country
  • hate diversity and are xenophobic
  • thinks that there is a "white genocide"

5. Black Lives Matter:

  • protest movement that sprung up after killings of black people by cops, especially after the Trayvon Martin incident
  • promote black people's rights
  • controversial in approaches and views

6. White Lives Matter:

  • protest movement against BLM and promotes white rights
  • many racist people
  • controversial in approaches and views
7. Black Panthers:
  • radical group that preached a "revolutionary war"
  • started 50 years ago as a peaceful organization like NAACP
  • views shifted and many members carried out violent and terrorist activities and believed MLK Jr.'s peaceful protests weren't working
  • did have some humanitarian work when they fed people in low-income communities
  • the party eventually split and membership fell
