Ridesharing

Uber, Lyft, etc. we've heard those names and we know what those companies do. they offer taxi services and allow regular people to make money by driving people around. While they are valuable companies are providing a wonderful service to people, they have also seen their share of problems.

The biggest one is affecting the job market. A problem is that it is changing the taxi industry, and leaving actual taxi drivers, who already make a low annual salary, generally between $19,000 to $29,000 a year. Just think about those taxi drivers in New York City, whose lives depend on driving that yellow cab around it certainly isnt fair for them.

Now on the other side, people say that Uber drivers mostly are just people looking for a quick buck and do not rely on Uber as a primary job. They say that regular taxi drivers could also just become Uber drivers, but that's the lazy person's excuse.

But then again, add up all of the ridesharing drivers and you cut out a sizeable chunk of the taxi/ridesharing industry. And here's the problem, Uber drivers aren't exactly that well off. For example in NYC, they make just about the same money a year at around $30,000-$35,000.

Uber has released UberX, a low-fare service that is supposed to somewhat work in conjunction with NYC taxis. Basically, the drivers have to licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

The future looks pretty flat. Nothing terribly bad will happen, but nothing really good will happen either.
