It is Harder for Immigrants?

America is a country founded on immigrants. Believe it or not, 98.3% of Americans have descended from immigrants. The only actual Americans are the Native Americans, which represent about 1.7% of the population. Yes, white nationalists can't exactly claim America as their own I guess.

As bad as it seems, it's harder for immigrants and non-US natives to hold jobs and positions within the states. It's even worse for international students. You can be a 'rich international kid' but when you fill out that job application for a US internship or something, that one question about requiring sponsorship may subtly affect your application status. It's not that companies are racist, it's just with the overall more stringent atmosphere surrounding immigration thanks to President Donald Trump's administration, it's harder.

Why? Paperwork takes a long time, approval rates are lower and times are longer. It doesn't help that the government is shut down. Even if immigration-related departments aren't closed, you can imagine what the workplace feels like. Sometimes it just becomes so much of a hassle, a company may just opt for a less-qualified candidate who is domestic.

It definitely sucks. Having money is one thing, but you need to have special skills and knowledge to really stand out these days.
